Shenandoah

In 1914, Roanoke civic leaders decided that Western Virginia needed a "hometown" insurance company. Two years later, Shenandoah Life opened its doors for business.

Shenandoah Life grew rapidly, and by 1924 purchased a 7-story building in downtown Roanoke. Quickly we developed a reputation for solid products and investments that met the needs of businesses and families.  Growth was important to us, but so was personal attention to our policyholders. Throughout the years, that reputation has grown, and a strong dedication to policyholders remains the hallmark of the company today.

We've come a long way during the ninety-plus years we've been in the insurance business. We began our journey as a small hometown company, and have grown into a competitive and innovative organization licensed in well over half the country.

Today, we continue to build on the foundation of our past. Under the leadership of President Robert W. Clark, Shenandoah Life continues to increase assets, design products that meet clients' needs, provide outstanding service, and develop talented leadership in order to position us for a new era of growth.
